What a real cool prank. It would be interesting to see the face of the new colleague when he sees his new desk the first time. He must believe he is back in the late 80’s. Unfortunately I’m not working in a corporate environment anymore, but I have to show it to my old colleagues so they can do this for the “New” guy. I bet it’s fun!

We actually did something like this to a fellow contractor. We let him use a brand new Sun workstation with twin 24″ LCD monitors but warned him we would take it if a user needed. While he was at launch we replaced it with something like what is in the picture. Although the monitor he received came from a mainframe: it was about 9″, green text and the outside had turned yellow.
