  3. How To Declutter And Organize Your Feeds

Do you have the same problem like I have sometimes? You subscribed to so many blogs and websites that you get too many feeds everyday to cope with. Some weeks ago I didn’t check my feeds for a month because I was so busy with other projects. After a month I had 7066 unread feeds, quite a bit!

Fortunately I organized my feeds a little bit differently than most feed readers. Instead of sorting them after the criteria how Interesting the Blogs are, Topics or Important. I sort them if they have post mostly with just a picture or more content.

Blogs, which have posts about newest blog design, ads, posters, graphics or photographs are added to my “Expanded View” category. In Google Reader you can see your feeds either as a list (it will only display the title and a part of the first sentence) or all posts are already open in “Expanded” view and you can see the whole post.

If you have posts, which only have one graphic or two, it’s a huge advantage to switch to “Expanded View”. You can easily scroll down through your 3000 feeds and if you really like a graphic, photograph or design, you just open this post in a new tab to check it out more closer.

It’s a small tip, but I think a huge timesaver. Especially if you read quite a lot design or gallery blogs.

Next week I will show you how I organize the rest of my feeds and how I try to keep my subscription list clean and lean. So subscribe to my blog to get notified when I release the next post of my series: RSS Feed – tips and tricks.

How do you organize your feeds and what tricks do you have to offer? What be great to hear about your system, if you even have one
