Continuing 31 Day challenge to Build a Better Blog

31 days build better blog Continuing 31 Day challenge to Build a Better BlogDarren had some other interesting challenges last week to build a better blog. He asked 9 popular and successful bloggers, what are their most interesting and insightful posts about successful blogging on their website. You can find the list of tips and tutorials for successful blogging here.

On day 7 he wanted to let us write a link post

A post where we link to another website, it can be just a link to one website or several. He mentioned different types of link posts, check it out here. I will have a link post in my upcoming post. :)

Day 8 was about interlinking previously written posts in your archive

Luckily I’m doing this already, so I’m done with it. :)
He mentions some great points why interlinking is important.

Join a forum and start participating was the challenge on day 9

The same here, I already participating in quite a lot forums, so I guess I don’t really have to participate in more. But also here, Darren gives you the reason why you should do so.

Day 10 reveals a really good tip: Set Up ‘Alerts’ to Monitor What is Happening in Your Niche!

Ok, I don’t have a niche, but for many other bloggers it is a great tip, I already use Google Alert to get a buzz, if something is going on in what I’m interested in. It really comes handy. He also gives 5 good reasons why to set up alerts.

Day 11 is about “Come up with 10 Post Ideas”

So you won’t run out of things to write about on your blog. Again, did my homework way before this challenge, right now I have 108 ideas to write about, but I just don’t have the time. So there is no worry, that I would run out of ideas. :)
But Darren showed a really good strategy, how to come up with new ideas for posts.

Day 12 is to “Develop an Editorial Calendar for Your Blog

He is mentioning two types of how you could do this. Most of the time I choose the second method. I try to write 3 posts and each day (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) belongs to a specific topic/category. For example, on Fridays most of the time I publish something funny.

Check out both methods, he is talking about on this post.

Day 13 is about going away from your computer and get inspiration somewhere else, e.g. in a shopping mall.

Darren is explaining why and the advantages. I didn’t have the time yet to do so. Maybe I will. If so, I’ll let you know!

And the last for today: Update a Key Page on Your Blog

Very important task, I think. Darren gives you some ideas where to look and what to do with pages and posts, which are important. I guess that will be a task I have to do in the next couple of days. :)

What do you think, what are the most important task for your blog or which are not relevant at all?
